Privacy
How we keep your information
In plain words: what we keep, how we protect it, and what you can ask of us.
What we keep
When you ask for an appointment we keep your name, your phone number and the reason you gave. Once you are a patient we also keep your details (such as date of birth, address and next of kin), your dental and medical history, your x-rays and photographs, what was done at each visit, and your bills and receipts.
We use this to look after you, to confirm and remind you of appointments by SMS, and to keep our accounts. We do not sell it and we do not use it for advertising.
How it is protected
Clinical notes, x-rays and photographs are encrypted when stored. Only staff who need your record to do their work can open it, each person signs in with their own account, and every time a record is opened it is written to a log that cannot be changed.
Photographs on this website
A photograph of you appears in our gallery only if you agreed, either on a signed form or verbally in front of a witness. You can withdraw that agreement at any time and we will take it down.
Your rights
Under Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 you may:
- ask what personal information we hold about you, and receive a copy;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
- withdraw a consent you gave us, or object to how we use your information;
- ask us to delete information we no longer need. Some treatment records we must keep for as long as the law and good practice require, and we will tell you if that applies;
- complain to the Personal Data Protection Office if you believe we have not respected these rights.
